Indianapolis is great place to live and play all year long, but May is one of the absolute best times to explore the city. We’ve got gorgeous weather, and there’s SO MUCH to see and do. Here are a few events we recommend checking out this month:

Thursday, May 4th, families can enjoy $5 admission to The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis from 4-8pm. Come out and explore all the museum has to offer!

Head to the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site on May 5th to enjoy a production of Murder Most Merry, presented by the Candlelight Theatre. Tickets are $23.50.

On May 8th, Hoosier native Ben Winters will be speaking at the Indianapolis JCC about his book Underground Airlines. Set in Indianapolis, the book explores what would happen if the Civil War had never taken place.

Treat Mom to a special weekend at the Indianapolis Zoo May 13th and 14th! There will be special treats and photo opportunities, and each mom will get a “proud mom” sticker to recognize just how special she is.

Take your kids out to enjoy the 500 festivities at the Indianapolis 500 Festival Kids’ Day and Rookie Run! Kids can race and win a medal! There are also mini race cars, face painting, clowns, and more. It’s all happening downtown on the Circle on May 13th.

One of the best events of the spring is happening May 20th and 21st.  Head to Broad Ripple for the Broad Ripple Art Fair. You can view and purchase beautiful work from local artists. The event also features live music and local food trucks.

And of course, the biggest event of May is the Indianapolis 500. The 500 Festival Parade is May 27th and the big race is May 28th. If you’ve never been, make this the year you check out the greatest spectacle in racing!
